Our long-time friend Bud Glendenning has offered to lead some morning paddling excursions to Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park, just across the Interstate from the Rendezvous, on each of the Rendezvous mornings (Fri/Sat/Sun). Details and such will be available on site when we're all there.

I'm really looking forward to showing Rendezvous attendees some of the charms of Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park, just across the interstate from Cooper's Lake! In order that we all have a fun time, it's important to know that all public waterways in Pennsylvania are regulated by the PA Fish and Boat Commission. As such, they require all craft to have at a minimum a launch permit. Whether or not you are a PA resident, use of Lake Arthur is permitted with a launch permit (or alternatively a boat registration, which can be from ANY STATE). They can be purchased online at http://www.https://huntfish.pa.gov/ or through many outlets found through www.fishandboat.com If you wish to purchase a permit online, be prepared with boat make, year of manufacture, Hull Id Number and your driver's license number along with credit card. The online process is not pleasant, but you will be issued a temporary permit immediately. You can purchase a permit at O'Donnell's Sports Supplies, 1765 Perry Highway, Portersville PA. The store is a five minute drive from the Rendezvous site, and is open 9-5 each day. You'll need the same information, but it's a more pleasant experience. A permit valid through year-end costs about $14. It's worth noting that while this is an onerous process, you can use the permit anywhere in Pennsylvania, so at least try out some other spots on the way home, or later in the summer! Feel free to call me you have questions at 724/859-6610. Bud
