[glow=green,1,300]Welcome to the forum for the W. PA Solo Canoe Rendezvous![/glow] This forum is to share information about the event. All info will be here and www.wpascr.org and there will most likely be no printed information. The intention is for this to be an informational, social & recreational gathering of solo and solo curious paddlers. Solo canoe manufacturers, vendors and the general canoeing public are welcome! This is a "not for profit" venture so there will be no fees except those imposed for camping or day passes by Coopers Lake Campground www.cooperslake.com. More information will be posted as it becomes available!

I'm happy to see some interest on the boards here that we're getting closer to the event! It looks like the weather is going to cooperate splendidly! Normally at this time of year the water is nice and warm and we should see daytime temps in the mid 70's and nights into the low 50's or so.

We've been jawing it up on paddling.net and solotripping.com , both pretty large canoeing boards.
There may be more coming than you think from this site.

On behalf of the organizing team for the WPASCR I want to thank everyone who helped make this event such a success. In particular we want to thank the vendors who supported the event;, Dave and Carol Curtis of Hemlock Canoe, Dave Yost representing Bell Canoe and Placid Boatworks, Harold and Betty Deal who brought a Shaman, Mark Ornstein of Dogpaddle Canoes and Paddles and the owners and staff of Cooper's Lake Campground, all of whom went above and beyond to help the event. In addition a special thanks to the staff at North Country Brewing who dealt with an onslaught of paddler people on Saturday night. We are very greatful to Mark Ornstein for the beautiful and enlightning freestyle performances on Saturday. He had even die hard whitewater paddlers doing ooohs and aahs! And thanks to all of you, and you know who you are, who showed up and had fun. It was a great weekend, truly reminiscent of the Western PA Canoe Symposiums we had at Cooper's Lake in the late 1980s. Great weather, great venue, amazing paddling, great conversaations and wierd, but wonderful, people. Does it get any better than that? The Team Becky Sheeler, Bruce Kemp, Lee Ann Reiners & Dori Stone

And here is the video of Marc's performance: www.youtube.com/watch?v=F63etEGL49sAlthough the quality lost something in the upload, you can still get to see what you missed if you didn't make it to Rendezvous! Enjoy the show and the background doggy noises! (Sorry about some of the shots going crooked--Maggie was on my lap and fussing!)

Thank you to Dave Curtis, Dave Yost, Charlie Wilson, Marc Ornstien, Kim Gass, Harold Deal, Max Peterson and John Stackpoole who presented information, did demonstrations or classes, brought boats and other paddling gear and made this year's Rendezvous the success it was! And thanks to all the paddlers who came to try, talk or learn. It was great to see you all. More thanks to Deb Kristophel and North Country Brewing, for beer! And to Jim Perrett and Rick Bruening for supplying some great music. And a special thanks to whomever arranged the double rainbow Saturday evening, it was a fitting end to a truly special day! Becky, on behalf of the organizing group!

Darn! I'm sorry I missed the '19 WPASCR. Is it possible you notify me of next years event? Thanks and I hope to introduce myself at the Ohio event.

Hi Bob - we do in fact have a mailing list, and we send out a reminder to those on the list in October (referring of course to the following year's edition, mostly a save-the-date sort of reminder), and then another the following April. If you click on "contact" from the home page, you can send us your email info and I'll put you on that list. Next year's (2020) dates will be June 5/6/7. When you say "Ohio event", I presume you mean the Midwest Canoe Symposium, so indeed I look forward to meeting you there.
